🚑 IMPROVING EMERGENCY CARE FOR OLDER PATIENTS!

Professor Bas de Groot from RECEM at Aarhus University Hospital is leading a new research project with the aim of enhancing the care for older patients in emergency medical services. Supported by a 3.17 million DKK grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark, the project focuses on optimizing treatment while reducing hospital admissions and societal costs.

The team will evaluate two tools: an age-adjusted risk assessment method and a clinical frailty index. These tools aim to help emergency medical teams make more informed, personalized decisions based on each patient’s health needs.

If implemented nationwide, this approach could potentially save over 114 million DKK annually while improving outcomes for patients.
