In her PhD, Stine focused on acute pain treatment in the emergency department, investigating how patients with and without daily opioid use are treated. Her research highlights that pain management is not always optimal, and that patients with daily opioid use often receive lower doses than recommended. She also explored the effect of low-dose ketamine as an adjunct to morphine – a strategy that has been shown to provide better pain relief.
