We’re excited to welcome Dr. Esben Merrild, who is starting his PhD on diuretic treatment in acute decompensated heart failure—a major cause of hospital admissions. While diuretics are a key part of treatment, the best strategy remains unclear due to limited high-quality evidence.

Esben's research will include two large randomized clinical trials to determine the most effective approach to fluid removal in heart failure patients—potentially leading to shorter hospital stays and improved quality of life.

His supervisors include Kasper Glerup Lauridsen and Bo Løfgren, among others.
